So, right now I don't think we know what Elune is, we don't know whether it's a titan or a naaru or what, but..
If you could decide what she is, what would you choose?
As for my choise? A mortal, one of the first generation of Night Elves, she would be one who, through the well of eternity, managed to connect to higher powers (naaru perhaps), and became so adept in the connection to the light (and perhaps darker paths aswell) that death did not stop her, her spirit would watch over her people, to this day, she would channel the holy (and perhaps shadow) energies of those which she communed with to the priestresses, she would be just about as powerful as, say, Bwonsamdi, a once-mortal race (well, night elves were not mortal, but you get my point), who ascended beyond that mortality

The thick succulent stems grow in a zig-zag direction, back and forth between each leaf. The green and white variegated leaves take on a rosy blush in bright, sunny conditions. Devil's Backbone can be grown as a landscape plant in frost-free areas where it develops into a shrub from 6-8' (2-2.5m) and produces small red flowers. First things first – there is no “Devil Survivor: The Animation.” Therefore, this show is not a sequel. It is based on a game that is the second in a series, however, which is where the “2.
I've mentioned this before, but I believe Elune to be the Goddess of balance. The balance of light and shadow, and peace and war. It reflects her persona as the duality of light and night, the Night Warrior and the Peacebringer, and it ties in well with the cyclic nature of the Naaru that she apparently created, as well as the phases of the moon. Not to mention that priestesses use the crescent as her symbol, a duality of light and void.
Moreover, her powers allow her followers to become one with the shadow as well as utilise the Light. The arcane is a force of order or balance and is also part of her arsenal. Lastly, the moon is the perfect avatar for this duality because it blends in well with the Night sky and doesn't subdue the shadow like the sun does.

Elune is Bwonsamdi wife(tough Malorne is still her lover) just too show the ties between troll and night elves further.
Also as a nod too Baron Samedi and Mama Brigitte(who is a caucasian unlike most voodoo loa) which blizzard lent troll loas from.
There was some further hint between loas and Elune in Legion where one of the treasure items one can find hiNt of a connection of loa and Elune.
But yeah If I could choose Elune would have some tie to the loas.

What if Elune is not real at all? I mean, imagined being in the in-game universe? :P
What if Elune is not real at all? I mean, imagined being in the in-game universe? :P
There are just too many things that cannot be explained if Elune wasn't real.
To answer your question on what I think Elune is, I first need to explain my vision on the ordening of the universe and the essence of creation.
I like to think the universe exists out of an energitic plane and a physical plane that are intertwined and can transcend into eachother. In this universe there are two primal forces being light and darkness. They are counterparts, one can not exist without the other. When I say primal I mean that these forces have always been there and will always be there, nobody created them and nobody will be able to destroy them, in a sense they are the universe.
I like to think there is a part of the universe that purely exist out of light and another part that purely exist out of darkness. Where these two parts meet there is infinite turmoil and change and this is the source of what we call creation. Everything in the universe has been created out of the endless turmoil between the light and the darkness including: titans, worlds, moon, sun, celestials, old gods, elements, naaru, demons , fel energy and arcane energy and so on.
Now these two forces are also called other names but they essentially all mean the same thing and refer to either the light or the darkness. Light is associated with the moral concept of goodness, and the preservation of life whilst shadow is associated with evil, death and is also called shadow or the void.
Now that I have explained all this I can clarify how I see Elune. For me Elune is just another aspect of light, another name if you will. The concept of Elune as the moon deity is a creation of the first night elves who worshiped the power of moonlight (which is just another aspect of light) and they gave it the name Elune and personified it as a night elf. Ofcourse she isn't a night elf, she never was, in fact she only exists in the imagination of the night elves and the power attributed to her is just the power light. This is exactly the same power the religion of the holy light worships.
So when Khadghar says that Elune created the prime Naaru Xe'ra. For me that means that the Naaru where born from the light (as we all knew a long time ago). But the transcript might have been made by ancient night elves that knew of the existence of the Naaru and instead of saying light they say Elune because they worship the light in the form of the deity Elune. The tears of Elune is a pillar of creation that found its way in the hands of the night elves and is in my view nothing more than a very powerfull artifact infused by the power of light that has somekind of link to the prime Naaru Xe'ra.
In my view on Azeroth there are 4 relgions that worship the light but they all worship a different aspect of light:
-Draenei worship the Naaru who are beings made out of pure light
-Night elves worship the moon as the source of moonlight and call it Elune
-Tauren and Blood elves worship the sun as the source of sunlight
-Other races that follow the path of the priest or the paladin worship the Holy Light as a religion based on values of virtue, kindness, goodness, heroisme etc
I would like to conclude by saying that in my vision everything that exists in the universe has the power of light and darkness at its core but one power can be more dominant than the other. For example I consider Titans and Naaru to be creations where the power of light is dominant but both have cases of corruption (Sargeras and shadow Naaru). Or how the tears of elune can also be used by the power of darkness to corrupt Cenearius and Ysera. Whilst Fel Energy is an energy where the power of darkness is dominant but this can also lead to aspects of good. An example is from the movie warcraft where Gul'dan saves baby Thrall with Fel Magic (not knowing he just gave life to one of Azeroth's biggest hero's).

i take it you didnt read the post just above you.
for 1 thing she created moonkin.
there is also the scene with ysara in legion
there is the ability she gave her current high priestess to heal any wound she attempts
there is xera who attributed the creation of the nauru to Elune
there is even a quest chain where you hear the voice of Elune
and thats just scratching the surface really
I would like her to be Azeroth's titan, I know it is very unlikely, but I think it will be nice.
To me Elune is the literal GOD of Warcraft Universe. But like Alexander Luthor said to Superman in BvS. God is tribal, god takes sides. She obviously favors the Light since she created or contributed to creation of Naaru. She takes sides since she has chosen Tyrande to be her champion and give her powers directly unlike others who draws their powers from other sources. But also she doesn't want to rule everything, she wants Light to win this eternal battle but she won't decide who wins or who loses. She is above Titans, Voids, Naaru, Wild-Gods, Elemental Spirits or she is in the same level with them, since her lover is a Wild God ( Malorne ) and she is the mother while Malorne the father of Cenarius who is a Demi-God. All the things we know about her indicates she is Good or at least in RPG language she is Chaotic Good.

And its not only limited to light and shadow.
She has a strong connection to life as we see in the game that the ancients or the wild gods serve her like Goldrinn sought to redemm himself to Elune or Malorne fell in love with her. She also has a strong connection to death as well, the old quests in winterspring or how moonlight shines on the dead bodies of Night Elves which their soul ascend toward her or Ysera at the end of Val'Sharah.
Elune is the goddess of Balance. The balance between light and shadow, life and death and her power is the power of the stars, the astral magic or better say balanced arcane.
An ancient star-god like C'tan from Warhammer 40000 or maybe AI with god-like powers who has some unclear agenda but surely wants to stop Void Lords. She can take any form, but usually appears as a female Constellar (other constellars are Elune's creations, thaey act as her agents).
Hot.
Elune is probably the only existing god in the warcraft universe.
Some kind of Arcane/Order equivalent of the Void Lords I think would make the most sense with the current lore, while allowing her to remain truly unique. It would explain:
-Her connection with the Well of Eternity and the transformation of the Night Elves via Arcane energy
-Arcane-based spells of Balance Druids and Moon Priestesses
-Her connection with the Titans (Night elves using Titan words+Tear of Elune as a pillar of the world), who according to the new lore are Arcane/Order beings, but not of a Void Lord level
-New hints from Suramar that to the earliest Night Elves (Valewalkers and such) both Arcane and Nature were equally central even before the rise of the Highborne
-Keeps her as a super-powerful true goddess yet simultaneously inaccessible and unable to fully manifest
-Allows her to have the role in the shaping of the universe and the Naaru that Legion seems to imply, without forcing her to become a Light-being and mutilating Night Elf distinctness
Of course this is more wishful thinking than anything else- I imagine they're just gonna make her a super-naaru or some such rubbish -_-

Anything but a goddes.
I always liked wow because it avoided gods and that stuff.
Sure the old gods have the name but in reality they are just giant heaps of flesh.
I always loved how wow combined realism into fantasy. We have magic and weird beings etc but it is still in a universe similiar to our own.
having some kind of goddes would ruin that for me.
I would like if Elune is the titan inside Azeroth. It is mentioned that the titan seems to be a she.
Elune is also called the earth mother by the tauren so it would make sense imo.

I really hope Elune is not something purely arcane/light/whatever related but born from a mixture of the various forces in the universe.
I honestly do not trust the Naaru and the Light... pretty much all forces have something bad if overused or having it in too great concentration but the Light being harmless and completely good in all sense? That stinks. The World of Warcraft is not so convenient. There must be reeeeeally disturbing trap behind it all!
